Recover Shopify carts with app push notifications

Email cart recovery already exists in Shopify. App push is the extra channel for people who installed the app and left a cart. Appziot Starter includes push; Growth adds rich push. Neither replaces Shopify checkout — they remind the shopper to finish it.

Trigger on cart, not on browse

Fire when a cart has line items and the session ends, not on every product view. If you cannot read cart state from Shopify, you will spam browsers who never intended to buy.

Timing that does not feel random

First reminder after a short delay (for example one hour) while the cart is still familiar. A second reminder the next day is enough for most catalogs. Night-time sends in the shopper’s locale get muted or marked as spam.

Caps and suppressions

Set a weekly maximum. Suppress promotional pushes for customers who paid in the last 24–48 hours unless the message is an order update. One noisy week trains people to disable notifications for the whole app.

Deep link to the cart

The payload should open cart, not home. If the SKU is gone, land on the collection, not a 404. Test this on a TestFlight / internal-track build before you turn the campaign on for everyone.

Copy

Name the product or the count (“3 items in your cart”), not “We miss you.” If you offer a code, use one you already honor in Shopify discounts. Fake urgency gets apps pulled in review.

What else push is for

Back-in-stock and shipping events convert without a discount. Keep campaign calendars separate from transactional messages so a sale blast cannot bury an order alert. Setup lives in the Appziot dashboard after the app is installed from the Shopify App Store.
